QuiltCon 2024

QuiltCon 2024 in Raleigh is fast approaching! If you’re attending, keep reading – there is information about an all-Florida meet-up, some information that we need from you for our program following QuiltCon, and some general information that might improve your trip!

Get the QuiltCon App

Anyone attending QuiltCon is highly encouraged to use the official QuiltCon app. The app is very helpful – the full schedule is available, and you can “favorite” lectures and workshops to build yourself a customized schedule. Maps of the vendor hall and quilt show, voting for people’s choice, quilt sales, attendee profiles and more are also available in the app!

If you haven’t yet downloaded it, search for “QuiltCon” on your phone’s app store to find the free app. Download and open the app; find QuiltCon 2024 in the Upcoming Events section and click the icon to launch. Create an account using the event code found in the January 18, 2024 email sent to you from the MQG – subject line: QuiltCon 2024: It’s time for the QuiltCon App!

Customize your profile by clicking on the icon with three horizontal lines in the upper right corner, then click the gear icon in the upper left corner. You will see a list of settings options, including “Edit my info.” If you would like some visual aids, clicking on the “? Info” icon on the app home screen provides a number of help options, including one for “Customizing Your App Profile.”

Workshops

If you’re taking a QuiltCon workshop, or two, be sure to allow time to look at your supply list and gather everything you’ll need. Find your supply list on the QuiltCon 2024 Interactive Schedule.

While at QuiltCon, near the registration/information desk, check the bulletin board for workshop opportunities. When quilters are unable to make it to a workshop, openings are posted by the workshop registrant, for sale – often for a discounted price, and occasionally for free! It’s worth checking the board often, just in case something comes up that interests you.

Florida Meet-Up

An all-Florida quilters meet-up is from 5 to 6 pm, Saturday, February 24, at Rye Bar & Southern Kitchen. The restaurant/bar is located at the Raleigh Marriott City Center hotel, 500 Fayetteville St., a block south of the Raleigh Convention Center.

If you’re going to QuiltCon and you haven’t yet given your phone number to Linda H., please do so. She’s keeping everyone’s contact info, in case of changes to the Florida Meet-up, or other concerns. Your number won’t be used for anything else!

Central Florida MQG March 9 Program

Our Central Florida MQG Saturday, March 9 program will be a “QuiltCon Review.” Everyone attending QuiltCon is asked to share pictures and info for our program.

By Saturday, March 2, please provide:

  1. A picture of your favorite quilt with a picture of the artist’s statement. Tell us:
What about the quilt was interesting to you? Was it a technique that drew your interest? Or were you attracted to its colors?
  2. What was something new at QuiltCon that you’d never seen before? Take a picture and send info about it.

Your DEADLINE for submitting all information is Saturday, March 2. Email pictures and information to CentralFloridaMQG@gmail.com

At our March 9 meeting, after reviewing quilts, QuiltCon attendees are also invited to informally share info about a favorite lecture and/or favorite workshop.
Reminder: If you take pictures of quilts, also take pictures of the artist’s statements, so makers can be credited in any posts, whether on social media, or in our CFMQG program.

Other Useful Information:

Check out the list of vendors who will be at QuiltCon. Even if you’re flying to/from QuiltCon, someone you know might be driving back to Central Florida, and have room for your purchases!
